The Australian company began operations in 1988 as YDSI, providing door-to-door services throughout Australia and specialising, at that time, on removals and document storage.
The joint venture company with NYK Line was formed a year later in 1989 with the primary goal of developing a network specialising in warehousing and transportation.
In 1995 the company was restructured to provide an Australian link for the worldwide logistics and shipping network and operations were consolidated to form New Wave Transport (Australia), with the assistance of our parent company, NYK Line. In 1999 NYK bought out New Wave Logistics.
From 1st July 2003 the company became NYK Logistics (Australia) Pty Ltd as part of a global branding strategy. The brand reinforces the global strengths, capabilities and benefits of NYK available for all our customers. Operating Australia wide NYK Logistics (Australia) provides a "total logistics solution". |
